Digital SAT Explained

What is the Digital SAT?

The Digital SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) is the College Board's undergraduate admissions test, used by more than 4,000 colleges and universities, mostly in the US and increasingly recognized elsewhere.

Since March 2024, the SAT has been fully computer-based and taken through the College Board's Bluebook app. It is noticeably shorter than the paper SAT it replaced, with a total testing time of about two hours and fourteen minutes.

The Digital SAT has two sections: Reading & Writing and Math. Each section is split into two adaptive modules. Performance on the first module affects the difficulty of the second module and can influence your score ceiling. Each section is scored from 200 to 800, for a total score between 400 and 1600.

The key challenge: The Digital SAT rewards accuracy, pacing and familiarity with its adaptive structure. Full-length adaptive mocks, Bluebook practice and targeted work on weak question types are central to effective preparation.

Digital SAT Exam Format

The Digital SAT has two sections, each divided into two adaptive modules. The Reading & Writing section has 54 questions over 64 minutes, while Math has 44 questions over 70 minutes.

Subtest What It Measures Questions Time
Reading & Writing Short passages, grammar, vocabulary, evidence and rhetorical reasoning. 54 64 min
Math Algebra, advanced math, data analysis, geometry and trigonometry. 44 70 min
Important: Each section is adaptive: Module 1 performance affects the difficulty of Module 2. A built-in Desmos graphing calculator is available for the entire Math section, so there is no separate no-calculator module. There is a short optional break between subtests, but each section is independently timed. Time saved in one subtest does not carry over to the next.

UCAT Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Direct answers to common questions about UCAT preparation and Mentor Educare.

You can take the SAT across the available test dates during the year. Many students take it twice: once as a baseline and once after focused preparation.
There are four subtests: Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning and the Situational Judgement Test. Abstract Reasoning was removed from the UCAT starting in 2025.
The cognitive score ranges from 900 to 2,700. Around 1,980+ can be competitive at many universities, while highly selective medical schools can attract applicants with substantially higher scores. Requirements vary by university and admissions cycle.
Candidates generally have one UCAT sitting per admissions cycle. This makes realistic mock tests, timing practice and score analysis particularly important.
Mentor Educare focuses primarily on UCAT test preparation. Our preparation timeline can be coordinated with the UCAS application process so that your UCAT preparation and application deadlines are planned together.
